Dr. Ann Limb
Chair of Stables Events Ltd
A founding Board member and former Group Chief Executive of the University for Industry, Ann has since 2005, worked primarily in the private sector as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of DRS plc, Entrepreneurs in Action, Briteyellow Ltd, Skills2Learn and Institute of Directors. She also holds a number of public appointments, serving as Chair of Milton Keynes Partnership and a Non-Executive Director of HMGCC and Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Ann undertakes a significant amount of voluntary and charitable work. She has founded two national charities – the Network for Women Managers in further education (now the Women Leaders Network) and the Helena Kennedy Foundation, which she continues to chair. She is also Chair of the National Council of Faiths and Beliefs and the Anne Frank Trust. From 1996-2010, Ann was Chair of the National Extension College, Cambridge and led its successful merger with Learning & Skills Network.
A former Principal and Chief Executive of Milton Keynes and Cambridge Regional colleges, Ann continues to work in education as a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge Lucy Cavendish College and as honorary Professor in Leadership at the University of West London. Active in her local community, Ann is Chair of MK 2018, Milton Keynes successful campaign to become a host city for the FIFA World Cup Milton, a school governor of Milton Keynes Academy, Chair of Destination Milton Keynes and Milton Keynes Arts for Health and a Trustee of the Stables.
Monica Ferguson
Director
She became General Manager of Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth prior to taking up the post of Chief Executive at The Stables in 2003 where she has overseen the financial recovery of the organisation and the building of Stage 2 – an intimate café-bar / performance space designed to showcase emerging artists. She was also the founding Director of IF: Milton Keynes International Festival in 2010. Monica was a founding director of Arts Marketing Warwickshire and helped to establish the London Arts Marketing Project. She has been a director of Youth & Music and is a director of The Stables Theatre Ltd, The Stables Trading Ltd and The Stables Events Ltd.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. She lives with her partner and interests include hill walking, golf, history, theatre and music.
Geoff Snelson
His responsibilities at Milton Keynes include corporate strategy and performance, communications, economic development and the Low Carbon Living programme. His role involves promoting Milton Keynes to external audiences and investors and working on the long-term development of the city, including the creation of public and private partnerships to help realise the community’s ambitions.
Geoff began his career researching racial violence for Leeds Community Relations Council and subsequently worked in various policy and research roles for Manchester City Council and Northamptonshire County Council.
Dr. Philip Smith
A qualified accountant, Dr Smith has since retiring from National Power ten years ago, built a portfolio of non-executive director positions in the renewable energy sector and has built a formidable set of public service roles in Milton Keynes.
He is currently chairman of Waste to Energy company, Global Utilities Ltd, tidal power company, Pulse Group Holdings Ltd, Leading Edge Technologies BVI - water desalination, and the UK’s Landfill Community Fund regulator (Entrust). He is also a stakeholder in other renewable energy businesses in the UK and overseas.
A former chairman of Leicester City Football Club, Dr Smith was until his recent retirement, Pro Chancellor of De Montfort University in Leicester and a board member of the MK Higher Education Development Board and the Milton Keynes Academy. He was awarded a Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by De Montfort University for his outstanding contribution to the development of the university.
He is also a non executive director of the NHS Hospital Trust and MK Urgent Care Services, chairman of the MK Business Leaders Partnership and chairman of the MK Economic and Learning Partnership. He has also a member the Bucks and MK Young Enterprise County board.
Lady Rima Scott
Founder of Bucks Dance, a dance development organisation, former member of various charitable boards including NACRO, Council for Dance Education and Training, Southern Arts Board, Milton Keynes Arts Association, MK Folk Art Festival, and MK Theatre & Gallery Company (Chair of its Theatre Committee). Rima was a Magistrate in Milton Keynes for 26 years, as well as advising at the Citizens Advice Bureau for many years, and Chairman of her local village school for 20 years.
Interests include 12 grandchildren who are scattered over the globe, going to the theatre in MK, London and Stratford, tennis, bridge, Pilates and books.
