Singing City kicks off with a Half Time Choir
On Saturday 17th December 2011,
The home of the MK Dons is used to the sound of massed voices urging their team on, but the Singing City choir added a touch of harmony to the match day atmosphere.
The choir was made up of singers who already belonged to other choirs, plus people who didn’t currently belong to any choir as well as some Dons fans who wanted to have a go and support the project as well as their team.
As a tribute to the tradition of community singing at football matches, the choir tackled probably the best-known football song, You’ll Never Walk Alone, followed by a new upbeat arrangement of All You Need Is Love.
The songs were arranged by Gitika Partington, one of the country’s leading choir directors. As well as arranging the songs Gitika lead workshops to help singers learn the songs and led the choir on the day of the performance.
The choir were positively fizzing with excitement and finished their performance on a real high. The overwhelming feeling from the singers was “more please!”, so look out for more singing at other events across MK.
Thanks to Stadium MK for giving us the chance to sing in such an amazing location.
The Half Time Choir was made possible with support from The Stables,
