World Music Workshops
The Stables hosted two World Music Workshop Days in March 2006. GCSE Music students from Drayton School, Manshead Upper School, Samuel Whitbread Community College, Sharnbrook Upper School and The Wye Valley School took part in a series of practical taster sessions. The workshops included Balinese gamelan with Jonathan Roberts, sitar and tabla with the Asian Music Circuit and African drumming with Osagyefo.
Music Theatre Project
In June 2006 The Stables delivered a Music Theatre Project in collaboration with St Mary’s Wavendon and Bow Brickhill Primary Schools. All 150 pupils from the two schools took part in a series of workshops with composer John Webb, director Suzanne Oliver and designer Chloe Lamford. The children worked together to compose songs, devise movement and design props for a brand new music theatre piece, Pirates!, which was performed for parents during National Small Schools’ Week. The Stables is pleased to acknowledge support for this project from the Goldsmiths' Company Charity and the Mackintosh Foundation.
