Spring 2010 sees the release of Django Bates’ new album and exploration of Charlie “Bird” Parker’s music, Beloved Bird. He has admired Parker since his father lent him Bird Lives – a highly romanticized view of Parker’s life – and he found his hero. Bebop lovers can expect to hear Django’s arrangements of the compositions he most associates with Parker; Scrapple From The Apple, Hot House, Billie’s Bounce, Laura, My Little Suede Shoes and Now’s The Time. Using the piano trio format, Beloved Bird features Django Bates on piano, Peter Bruun on drums and Petter Eldh on double bass.
