Elena Durán is recognised internationally as one of the most charismatic flute players in the world today. She has played with many of the most important orchestras around the globe, recorded two albums with the great Stephane Grappelli and a hit pop single with Paul McCartney. Elena's recording of Claude Bolling’s Irelandaise (included in the programme) was the Woman's Hour theme tune for more than a decade. Almost all of the composers in this concert featuring show tunes from Broadway and Hollywood musicals are or were friends of Elena’s.
