Northern Broadsides bring to life the classic tale of Heidi, the irrepressible little girl with a big heart who changes the lives of all she meets. But this stage adaptation has a twist – the story is seen through the eyes of a band of unruly goats! Lots of hilarious musical misunderstanding follows as we get the goats’ take on the human action.
Sent to live with her stern Grandfather in the Swiss Alps, Heidi learns about the mountain way of life but is soon unhappily torn from it to go and live in the big city as a companion to the frail, wealthy Clara. How will Heidi cope in the stiff formality of the rich household? Will she ever see her beloved Grandfather and her best friend Goat Peter ever again?
Expect acapella bleating, clog dancing, memorable songs and Broadsides’ well-loved blend of high theatrics, strong narrative, humour and heart. But hold on to your bags and coats – those goats will be in the audience – and they’ll eat anything!
