John Law’s trio The Art of Sound, with Sam Burgess and Asaf Sirkis, has established a reputation as one of the UK’s most creative small ensembles. The new trio sound includes subtle electronic effects in bass and piano and the addition of unusual instruments such as glockenspiel and hang to the drum sound, with some electronic ‘toys’ added to the piano. With their wide-ranging dynamics, the trio go from poised, romantic ballads to heavy rock-sounding anthems. And plenty of jazz and rhythmic grooves!
