Federico Garcia Lorca is the most beloved and influential of all modern poets and one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Keith James and Rick Foot – acclaimed for their success with The Songs of Nick Drake – have now set his passionate, evocative poetry to music, mostly sung in English but with some verses in Spanish. The evening will also include material from those musicians who followed Lorca; Leonard Cohen (who set Lorca’s Take This Waltz to music originally), Joni Mitchell, Tim Buckley and of course Nick Drake, along with a short bio-documentary about Lorca entitled Death in Granada.
