The Strad magazine asked “Is there a better Trio ensemble in Western Europe?” as the Kungsbackas’ dynamism, openness and conviction of performance is inspiring. The Schumann piano trio that they perform here is lively and spirited, with an excitability generated by short, breathless tunes. Dvorak’s Dumky trio is one of his most celebrated works, as he takes six dumky (Ukrainian laments) to create one work full of beauty, fun and sheer drama.
