Having started out singing in Chicago bars, Lucy Kaplansky headed for New York and soon found herself collaborating with a fertile community of singer-songwriters that included Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin and Nanci Griffith. In 1994 Colvin produced Lucy’s album The Tide to rave reviews, then came her back-to-back hit albums that both picked up the Association for Independent Music’s Pop Album of the Year award. Her latest album Over the Hills rediscovers her acoustic musical roots with stellar songwriting that is pure Americana.
