The Rachel Harrington Trio
with Evan Brubaker & Colby Sander The Celilo Falls Tour
Rachel Harrington is a roots musician whose unique artistry captures the deep link between country and soul. From the crossroads of gospel, folk and bluegrass, her songs tell personal and mythical stories from the American West. Frequently mentioned alongside Gillian Welch and Emmylou Harris, tonight with her Trio she performs songs from her third album Celilo Falls with tales of bar-room brawls, starlit weepers, the longings of lost love and family sorrow.
"Haunted, gothic Americana." Daily Mirror
“Ancient-sounding country noir … Harrington is all about what’s left off her songs, and the skeletal arrangements leave the listener to fill in the unspoken terrors and tenderness that lie beneath." Bury Me Close: #34 on Q’s “50 Essential Tracks To Download This Month ~Q MAGAZINE (Feb 2011)
“Songs that conjure the ghosts of old America” ~ MOJO MAGAZINE (Feb 2011)
The Irish Times Top-10 Albums of the Year List includes CDs by Bruce Springsteen, Richard Thompson, Willie Nelson, Robert Plant and Neil Young. At #7, Rachel Harrington's ‘Celilo Falls.’ ~THE IRISH TIMES (Dec 2010)
“An old-timey trip to Atlantis - a compelling blend of twang and swing … a sharply rendered sound portrait” ~SONGLINES MAGAZINE (Jan 2011)
“Few female artists come close to matching Gillian Welch’s song craft and honesty. Rachel Harrington is an exception. ‘Celilo Falls’ is a brilliant album that any self respecting folk-roots fan should snap up immediately.” ~ WHISPERINANDHOLLERIN (March 2011)
